Lessons and Classes
I accept students ages 4 and up. All ages and levels will benefit from individualized teaching, group classes, and recitals. Beginning students of any age are encouraged to observe at least 1 lesson prior to starting their own private lessons. Students with some playing experience are encouraged to bring current repertoire and technical studies. More advanced students will have the opportunity for chamber collaboration.
Have you always wanted to learn an instrument? Did you play violin as a student and regret quitting somewhere along the way?
I offer adult violin lessons tailored to efficient learning and practicing, keeping in mind busy schedules and life balance. Resuming or beginning music lessons is a great way to exercise your mind and creativity.
While I encourage everyone to participate in recitals, there is no pressure to do so. Evening adult play-ins/informal performances offer laid-back opportunities to collaborate and share your music with others.
Violin Beginnings I:
This class is the perfect introduction to the world of violin playing.
Students start at the very beginning, learning how to hold the violin and bow with ease and play simple songs that use their new skills. They develop listening skills, rhythmic coordination, as well as the basic building blocks of reading music. Each class also includes listening time to introduce students to the music of some of the world’s most famous composers. Parents are provided with specific practice follow through, as well as education and support in their roles as home practice coach. The class combines traditional, Suzuki, and Rolland teaching methods.
IMPORTANT: A parent is required to attend and participate in the class with their child, and to practice daily with them at home. Students are required to rent/purchase their own appropriate-sized violin.
